Crocheting a Backpack: Back to School!

Crochet a Backpack - It's "back to school" time again, so let's crochet a cool backpack. Colorful, trendy, and perfect for the lunchbox! Let your kids choose the colors themselves, and they'll be the talk of the class. Going to school has never been this much fun!

After vacation, it’s always exciting to go back to school. Will the new teacher be nice, and what did everyone do over the summer? Of course, it’s also fun to show off your new stuff—and how cool is it to show up with a backpack you made yourself?
And moms, rest assured: this cheerful bag is crocheted using nothing but granny squares. So no complicated tricks!

What do you need?

Crochet Pattern for a backpack:

Crochet 21 granny squares (base color). Join them together at the back with single crochet stitches, as shown in the picture below (Pink). Then join all these pieces together with single crochet stitches at the front (Blue). Now the bag is taking shape.

Now you have a pouch, and you're going to crochet a border of double crochets along the top. You'll be able to thread the cord through here later. Crochet 1 double crochet, skip 1 stitch, and crochet another double crochet.

To finish the granny square on the flap, crochet another border using single crochet stitches. Then attach it to the bag. Do this using the Blue yarn and a sewing needle. Attach it to the granny squares (not to the edge where the cord goes through).

Cord
Choose a color and cut 15 strands, each 110 cm long. Divide them into 3 groups of 5 strands. Tie a knot at the beginning and braid until you’ve almost used up all the yarn. Finish the braid with a button. Thread the cord through the edge of the bag.

Tires
Chain 4 + 1 chain stitch. Note: Use 2 strands of yarn and a standard size 5 Crochet Hook. Work 4 single crochets + 1 chain stitch. Continue in this manner until you have a strip measuring 50 cm. Make 2 strips. Sew the strips to the top and sides of the Bag.

And there you have it—the bag is finished. Enjoy it!
