Hooray! The very first Scheepjes CAL is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and that’s cause for a celebration. That’s why Scheepjes is launching four new projects that will be released as CALs and KALs. Curious to see which projects are included and how you can join in? Read on to find out!
Ten years ago, Scheepjes was a true trendsetter with its first CAL. Working on a project step by step together with fellow craft enthusiasts turned out to be a huge success! These days, the CAL (crochet along) or KAL (knit along) has become an integral part of the crafting world. To celebrate this milestone, Scheepjes is launching the Dawn Chorus CKAL! Throughout the year, four unique projects will be released that you can follow along with, step by step, whether you’re crocheting or knitting. And yes, you read that right—all projects will be released in both crochet and knitting versions! The Dawn Chorus CKAL projects pay tribute to songbirds, so this theme will be reflected in all of the projects.

Scheepjes CKAL Bullfinch Blanket
The third kit from the Dawn Chorus CKAL has been released! The Bullfinch blanket is a beautiful blanket made with Scheepjes’ exclusive limited-edition Whirl yarn. With this massive ball of 3,000(!) meters, you can create a unique blanket with a subtle color gradient. The blanket was designed by Esther from It’s all in a Nutshell, and in addition to the exclusive yarn, the kit also includes inspiring collectible cards from the Dawn Chorus series and a limited-edition Scheepjes tote bag. The Bullfinch CKAL begins on July 17, 2024, and runs through August 14. The pattern consists of join-as-you-go motifs, so you don’t have to assemble the blanket. The crocheted blanket measures approximately 100 x 140 cm, and the knitted blanket measures approximately 110 x 150 cm.
The Bullfinch CKAL kit includes:

Scheepjes CKAL Dawn Chorus Goldcrest Scarf
The first project from the Dawn Chorus is the beautiful Goldcrest Scarf. The scarf was designed by Martin Up North and is inspired by the stunning colors of the goldcrest. The pattern has already been fully released and is available on the Scheepjes website and the official Scheepjes Facebook group.
The crocheted scarf will measure 26 x 180 cm.
The knitted scarf will measure 25 x 170 cm.

Scheepjes CKAL Blue Tit Cushion
The second project from the Dawn Chorus is this beautiful Blue Tit Cushion featuring a printed blue tit. The Cushion was designed by Liz Barraclough and can be made by either crocheting or knitting. For the knitted version, the blue tit is worked into the fabric; for the crocheted version, it is embroidered using cross-stitches.
The pattern has already been released in its entirety and can be found on the Scheepjes website and the official Scheepjes Facebook group.
