Carrot Shoe Gift | Free Crochet Pattern for Sinterklaas

Ohzosnel will gobble up this tasty carrot, and Sinterklaas and his helpers will tuck a gift inside the carrot and then put the carrot back in the shoe. -shaped shoe gift: 1 ball of Yarn and Colors Must-have in the color Orange (20)
- Yarn and Colors Must-have minis in the colors Fiery Orange (22), Grass (82), and
Peony Leaf (86)
- 2 mm or 2.5 mm Crochet Hook
- Stitch Markers
- Stuffing (you only need a very small amount of this)
- Elastic
- Sewing needle with a sharp point

Free Crochet Pattern: Carrot Shoe Gift

The goal is to crochet the body so tightly that no stuffing is visible between the stitches. Therefore, use a 2 mm or 2.5 mm Crochet Hook. Choose the Crochet Hook that feels most comfortable for you.

Abbreviations used:
ch =
chain
stitch, sc =
single
crochet, hdc = slip
stitch. To chain a stitch: Make a starting loop with your yarn. Insert your Crochet Hook between the indicated rows in the pattern, from the front toward the inside, and pull the loop up. Insert your Crochet Hook one stitch further down. Yarn over and pull the yarn through your work, directly through the loop on the Crochet Hook. Crochet the specified number of stitches in this manner.

Before you begin, crochet a small circle as follows:
Round 1: Using a 2.5 mm or 2 mm Crochet Hook and Orange yarn, make a magic ring of 6 sc, or do it this way: Chain 2. Crochet 6 sc in the first chain. Crochet 1 sl st in the first sc to form a loop (6).
Round 2: Crochet 2 dc in each dc (12).
Round 3: Crochet 2 dc in every 2the v (18).
Round 4: Crochet 1 single crochet. *Crochet 2 single crochets in the next single crochet, then 2 single crochets*. Repeat from *to*, until the end of the round, but finish with 1 single crochet (24). Fasten off. Weave in the ends neatly. Set your ring aside for a moment and now start on the carrot.

Round 1: Using a 2.5 mm or 2 mm Crochet Hook and Orange yarn, make a magic ring of 6 sc, or do it this way: Chain 2. Crochet 6 sc in the first chain. Crochet 1 sl st in the first sc to form a loop (6).
Row 2: Crochet 6 sc (6).
Row 3: Crochet 2 single crochets in every 2nd single crochet (9).
Row 4: Crochet 9 single crochets (9).
Row 5: Crochet 2 double crochets in every 3rd stitch (12).
Row 6: Crochet 12 single crochets in each row (12).
Row 7: Crochet 2 single crochets in every 4th single crochet (15).
Rows 8 and 9: Crochet 15 single crochets in each row (15).
Row 10: Crochet 2 double crochets in every 5th double crochet (18).
Rows 11 and 12: Crochet 18 single crochets in each row (18).

Before continuing, first crochet a chain of 3 between rows 8 and 9. You don't need to weave in the beginning and ending threads of this chain.

Round 13: Crochet 2 dc in every 6th stitchthe v (21).
Round 14: Crochet 21 single crochets (21).
Round 15: Crochet 2 dc in every 7the v (24).
Round 16: Crochet 24 (24).

Before continuing, first crochet a 7-chain stitch between rows 12 and 13. You don't need to weave in the beginning and ending threads of this chain. Make sure it is proportional to the chain stitch you crocheted earlier.

Round 17: Now take the ring you crocheted earlier. Fill in the tip of the carrot. Place the ring on the inside of your work and crochet it directly onto the piece. Insert your Crochet Hook through both the stitches of row 16 and the last row of your ring. Crochet 24 single crochets (24).
Round 18: Crochet 2 sc in every 8ste v (27).
Round 19: Crochet 27 v (27).
Round 20: Crochet 2 dc in every 9the v (30).
Rounds 21 and 22: Crochet 30 single crochets in each row (30).

Before continuing, first crochet a 7-chain stitch between rows 17 and 18. Make sure it is proportional to the chain stitch you crocheted earlier. Neatly weave in the beginning and ending threads.

Round 23: Crochet 2. *Crochet 2 single crochets in the next single crochet. Crochet 4 single crochets*. Repeat from *to*, until the end of the row, but end with 2 single crochets (36).
Rounds 24 through 27: Crochet 36 single crochets in each row (36).
Round 28: Crochet 2 dc in every 6th stitchthe v (42).
Rows 29 through 34: Crochet 42 single crochets in each row (42).

Before continuing, first crochet a 12-chain stitch between rows 24 and 25 and between rows 31 and 32. Make sure it is proportional to the chain stitch you crocheted earlier. Neatly weave in the beginning and ending threads.

Round 35: Make 6 decreases. Crochet every 6the and 7the v together (36).
Round 36: Make 6 decreases. Crochet every 5the and 6the v together (30).
Round 37: Crochet 30 sts (30).
Round 38: Change to the Peony Leaf color. Crochet 30 (30).
Round 39: Crochet this round into the back loops of your single crochet stitches, so that a few loops form on the outside of your work. *Crochet 1 single crochet in the first single crochet. Chain 1. Skip 1 single crochet*. Repeat from *to*, until the end of the round (30).
Round 40: Crochet 1 single crochet into each single crochet from the previous round. Crochet 1 slip stitch into each chain stitch from the previous round. Chain 21. Crochet 20 single crochets back along the chain. Fasten off. Weave in the ends neatly.

Now attach a new strand of Grass yarn to the back loops of row 39.
Starting with Row 1, stitch your Crochet Hook into the loops.

Round 1: Crochet 30 sts (30).
Round 2: *Crochet 1 into the first single crochet. Crochet 1. Skip 1 single crochet*. Repeat *to*, until the end of the row (30).
Round 3: Work 1 sl st into each dc from the previous row. Crochet 1 sl st into each ch from the previous row. Chain 15. Crochet 14 dc back along the chain. Fasten off. Weave in the ends neatly.

Finishing
:
Thread an elastic band through the openings in row 39 and pull it tight enough to create an elastic opening. Tie a button in it.
