How to Crochet a Garland for King's Day - Go ahead and hang out the flags because King's Day is almost here! This celebration, full of red, white, blue, and orange, is a blast every year, and no celebration would be complete without a festive craft project. Since we can’t be sure the weather will be nice, we’re making sure we’re in control. With this cheerful garland, you can create a party in regal hues—whether indoors or outdoors!

Whether it’s your booth at the flea market, the tent in the backyard, or just in front of the window in your living room: this garland brightens up any space! You can get started and make this garland with just four balls of yarn. The garland is made from Yarn and Colors Epic, a sturdy 100% Cotton Crochet Yarn. Since Epic is suitable for a size 5 Crochet Hook, it works up quickly, and you’ll have this colorful garland finished in no time!
Do you also like to make your own orange decorations? Besides hanging it in the living room, it’s also really fun to wear it yourself!
What do you need?
- 1 ball of Yarn and Colors Epic 1 (White), 20 (Orange), 32 (Pepper), and 68 (Sapphire)
- 4 and 4.5 mm Crochet Hooks
King's Day Crochet Pattern
The garland will be about 2.5 meters long
Using Orange yarn and a 4.5 mm Crochet Hook, chain 37 stitches.
After chaining 15, remove your Crochet Hook from the loop. Now insert your Crochet Hook into the first chain stitch and pick up the loop from your work again. Continue chaining the remaining chain stitches until you have 37 chain stitches. Pull the loop through the first chain stitch to form a ring. This way, you’ll avoid any twisting in your ring.
Now continue crocheting with a 4mm Crochet Hook.
Row 1: Now work 36 single crochets (36) into the chain of chain stitches.
Rows 2–4: Crochet 36 sc in each row. Fasten off with 1 sl st in the first sc. Neatly weave in the beginning and ending threads.
Now continue with Red. Repeat the pattern above, but before inserting your Crochet Hook into the first chain stitch, pull the chain through the ring you’ve already crocheted so that your new ring is crocheted around the previous one.
You can make 7 rings from a ball of yarn.
