Sun, sea, beach bag... Bring on summer—we’re totally ready! This roomy beach bag is stylish, trendy, and perfect for taking to the beach. Not going to the beach? It also makes a great shopping bag, of course! Read on for the free pattern.
The sun is on its way, so it's high time to expand your vacation projects. When you see this cheerful little piece, don't you just want to start crocheting a beach bag right away?
This roomy beach bag is made from a cotton-acrylic blend yarn—it has a summery feel and is a pleasure to crochet. The original bag was crocheted with Lana Grossa Cotton Mix 80. Unfortunately, this yarn is no longer available, but it can easily be replaced with other yarns. How about Yarn and Colors Fabulous for a rugged look, or Durable Cosy Fine for a sophisticated look? We used shades of red and pink combined with cream, but there are plenty of colors to choose from, so create your own favorite combination!

Cord/Handle
: Cut 8 strands, each 2 m long, of color 524.
Twist these threads tightly around each other, take a pair of scissors, and stitch the twisted string through one of the scissors’ blades. Hold both ends of the string and let the scissors hang in the middle. The string will now twist together. Take another pair of scissors, cut the string at the scissors, and tie a knot at both ends.
Pull one end of the cord through one opening until it reaches the button (from the outside to the inside), thread the other end back through the other opening (from the inside to the outside), decide how long you want the handle to be, and tie a button at the desired length.
Do the same for the other handle.

Knit a Beach Bag
Would you rather knit a beach bag? You can! We’ve also created a cute knitted version! The texture is slightly different because of the different technique, but with its cheerful stripes, this one is also a fun shopper with a summery look. Check out the pattern for the knitted beach bag here.
