Learn Tunisian Crochet - FREE Online Course

Tunisian crochet is all the rage! It’s almost as if the long Crochet Hook stands for extra “long” fun. Because of all the enthusiastic responses and the serious “Tunisian crochet addictions,” we’d love to get everyone hooked on this trend. Because it’s so much fun! In this online course, you’ll learn this fun Tunisian crochet technique step by step over the coming weeks. Will you join us?

Is it knitting or crocheting? No, it’s Tunisian crochet! This fun crochet technique is a combination of knitting and crocheting and is currently all the rage. Using a typically long Crochet Hook (or a Crochet Hook with a cable), you slip the stitches onto your hook at the end of each row and then slip them off again on the next row.

What does a Tunisian Crochet Hook look like?

In Tunisian crochet, you leave your stitches on the Crochet Hook at the end of each round. For larger projects, you’ll therefore need a longer Crochet Hook to accommodate all the stitches. Crochet hooks come in various types and sizes. Of course, they come in different thicknesses, but you can also choose between a long Tunisian crochet hook (aluminum or plastic) or a crochet hook with an extension cord. The advantage of a Tunisian crochet hook with an extension cord is that you can also use it for larger, wider projects, such as blankets or larger cushions.

What do you need?
- 6 balls of Phildar Phil Coton 4. Unfortunately, Phildar Phil Coton 4 is no longer available in our selection. Use another cotton yarn, such as Yarn and Colors Must-have, SMC Catania, or Scheepjes Catona.
- 5.5 mm Tunisian Crochet Hook when working with Phildar Phil Coton 4.

When working with one of the thinner cotton yarns listed above, use a 4mm or 4.5mm Tunisian Crochet Hook. When choosing the size of your Tunisian crochet hook, take the thickness of the yarn into account. Add 2 mm to the Needle Size indicated on the yarn label. You do this because Tunisian crochet is much tighter than regular crochet.

Also handy to have:
- Row Counter
- small scissors
- Wool Needle
- Crochet Hook size 4.5
