Tunisian Stitch with Pulled-Through Loops - The Tunisian crochet course is flying by! We’ve already covered the first basic stitches, and now we’re moving on to a fun textured stitch. Is your garland taking shape yet? Read on for the new instructions!
In the 4th lesson of the Tunisian crochet course, we’ll get started with the Tunisian stitch with pulled-over loops. This stitch creates a nice textured pattern that you can use for all kinds of projects. Annemarie explains step-by-step how the stitch works and how to crochet the next flags for the Garland. The patterns are accompanied by a video and detailed instructions.
Fun facts about the Tunisian stitch with pulled-over loops:
- The first two rows of this stitch are the same as the basic Tunisian stitch.
- In this stitch, the last stitch is always worked the same way as in the Tunisian basic stitch. This ensures that the left side of your crochet work also stays nice and straight.
- With a slight modification to the basic Tunisian stitch, you can crochet this beautiful decorative stitch.
- The number of chain stitches you crochet for this stitch must be divisible by 3 plus 2 additional chain stitches.
- When crocheting the Tunisian stitch, it's best to use yarn that doesn't split easily.

Crochet Pattern for Tunisian stitch with pulled-over loops:
Start with a chain of 17 chain stitches.
1ste tour:
Now insert the Crochet Hook into the 2the chain stitches from the Crochet Hook. To determine which of the two chain stitches is the bestthe chain stitch, you can see where your working thread comes out. The chain stitch where your working thread comes out
If it comes up, skip it; the next one is 2the chain stitches off the Crochet Hook. Insert the Crochet Hook, make a yarn over with the Crochet Hook, and pull the yarn through the stitch. Leave the yarn over on your Crochet Hook. You now have 2 loops on your Crochet Hook. * Insert the hook into the next chain stitch, make a yarn over with the Crochet Hook, and pull the yarn through the stitch. Leave the yarn over on your Crochet Hook *. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. You now have a total of 14 loops on your Crochet Hook.
2the tour:
Chain 1 and pull the chain through 1 loop on your Crochet Hook. *Chain 1 and pull through 2 loops on the Crochet Hook*. Repeat *to*, until the end of the row, until you have 1 loop left on your Crochet Hook.
3the tour:
If you look at your stitches now, you’ll see that vertical lines have formed. Skip the first vertical line. *First, make a yarn over around the Crochet Hook. Insert your Crochet Hook through the front of the fabric on the right side, just below the second vertical line. Yarn over and pull the yarn over the line so that there is an additional loop on the Crochet Hook. Because you yarned over, you now have 3 loops on the Crochet Hook. Now stitch your Crochet Hook under the next vertical line on the front side. Yarn over, pull the yarn over through the stitch, and leave it on the Crochet Hook. Now insert the Crochet Hook one last time under the next vertical line on the front side. Yarn over, pull the yarn through the stitch, and leave it on the Crochet Hook. Now slide the yarn over you made for these three stitches from right to left over the three loops on the Crochet Hook and let it drop off your Crochet Hook*. Now repeat *to*, until the end of the row, until you reach the last vertical stripe. Crochet this as you would for the basic Tunisian stitch. By working the last stitch this way, your crochet work will also stay nice and straight on the left side.
4the tour:
Repeat Row 2.
To make your square bigger, alternate between rows 3 and 4 when you crochet.
To make our little flag, we'll crochet a total of 26 rounds.
27ste tour:
If you look at your stitches now, you'll see that vertical lines have formed.
Skip the first vertical stripe. Insert your Crochet Hook through the front of the fabric on the right side, just below the second vertical stripe. Yarn over and pull the yarn over through the line directly into the loop on your Crochet Hook. You will have 1 loop on your Crochet Hook. Repeat this until the end of the row, then pull the end of the yarn through the last loop on your Crochet Hook to fasten off.
