October 4 is all about animals. Treat your dog or cat to some treats, a little extra attention, and a fun toy. We’ve got you covered on that last point, because Annemarie has made a super cute cat toy! With the little balls of Yarn and Colors Minis, just one ball is all you need, and you can choose from no fewer than 100 colors for your beautiful veiltail fish.

What do you need?
- 1 ball of Yarn and Colors Must-have Minis 100, 65, 86, 54, 34, 32, 17, 12
- 2mm Crochet Hook
- Cushion filling
- 2 ratchet washers, 8x15 mm
- Yellow safety eyelets, 10 mm
- A stick or branch about 50 cm long

Stitches used:
l = chain stitches
v = single crochets
hv = slip stitch
hst = half double crochet
st = double crochet
dst = double crochet

Fish Crochet Pattern:

Round 1: Using deep cerise, make a magic ring of 6 sc, or do it this way: crochet 2 chains, then crochet 6 sc in the first chain, and slip stitch into the first sc to form a circle of 6 sc (6).
Round 2: Crochet 2 single crochets in each single crochet (12).
Round 3: Crochet into the back loops only, so that a few loops form on the outside of your work. Crochet 12 single crochets (12).
Round 4: Crochet 2 sc in every 2nd sc (18).
Round 5: Crochet 1, *crochet 2 into the next chain, crochet 2*. Repeat *to*, until the end of the round, but end with a chain 1 (24).
Rows 6 and 7: Crochet 24 single crochets in each row (24).
Round 8: Crochet 2 sc in every 4th sc (30).
Round 9: Crochet 30 (30).
Row 10: Crochet 2 sc, *crochet 2 sc in the next stitch, crochet 4 sc*. Repeat *to*, until the end of the row, but end with 2 sc (36).
Round 11: Chain 6, crochet the next 6 single crochets in the back loop only, so that single loops form on the outside. Crochet 12 single crochets as usual, then crochet the next 6 single crochets in the back loop only again. Crochet 6 more single crochets as usual until the end of the round (36).
Row 12: Change the color to Papaya. Crochet 36 single crochets (36).
Rows 13 through 15: From here until the end of the pattern, crochet only in the back loops so that single loops form on the outside. Crochet 36 single crochets in each row (36).
Before you continue, insert the safety eyes between rows 7 and 8.
Place the eyes in line with the six single loops of row 11.
Round 16: Make 6 decreases. Crochet every 5th and 6th stitch together (30).
Round 17: Crochet 30 (30).
Round 18: Make 6 decreases. Crochet every 4th and 5th st together (24).
Round 19: Crochet 24 single crochets (24).
Row 20: Make 6 decreases. Crochet every 3rd and 4th st together (18).
Rows 21 and 22: Crochet 18 single crochets in each row (18).
Round 23: Make 3 decreases. Crochet every 5th and 6th stitch together (15).
24th round: Crochet 15 (15). Now stuff the body firmly with stuffing and tuck the two rattle discs into the stuffing as well.
Row 25: Crochet every 4th and 5th st together (12).
Round 26: Make 6 decreases. Crochet the stitches together 2 at a time (6). Fasten off. Pull the end thread through the last 6 v stitches to close the hole. Weave in the end thread neatly.

Pectoral fins:
Now, using Lemon, crochet the side fins onto the single loops of row 11. Stitch the Crochet Hook into the loops, as seen from the front.

Crochet 1 hdc, 1 sc in the first stitch. Crochet 1 hdc and 1 sc in the second stitch. Crochet 1 sc and 1 dc in the 3rdthe crochet. Crochet 1 dst and 1 st in the fourth stitch. Crochet 1 st and 1 hst in the fifth stitch, and crochet 1 hst and 1 hv in the last stitch. Neatly weave in the beginning and ending threads.

Crochet another side fin on the other side of the fish.

Mouth:
Now, working from the back, crochet into the single loops of Row 3 using Pepper.
Crochet 1 round of 12 sc, then crochet 12 ch-st. Fasten off. Neatly weave in the beginning and ending threads.

Scales
Crochet with Peony Leaf scales on the outer loops starting with row 13.
Insert your Crochet Hook into the loops, as seen from the front.
Crochet 1hv into the first stitch, *crochet 2 chains. Skip 1 loop, crochet 1hv into the 3rd stitch*.
Repeat *to* until the last stitches of row 25. Bind off. Neatly weave in the beginning and ending threads.

Tail fins
There are two different sizes of tail fins.
Using Papaya, Peony Leaf, Lemon, and Pepper, crochet a tail fin as follows.
Crochet a chain of 21 stitches. Now crochet 2 double crochets in each of the first 19 chains. Crochet 1 slip stitch in the 20th chain. Fasten off.

Using Grape, Turquoise, and Deep Cerise, crochet a tail fin as follows.
Crochet a chain of 17. Now crochet 2 double crochets into each of the first 15 chains. Crochet 1 slip stitch into the 16ththe l. Close.

To make the fins curl nicely, you can twist them. Secure all the tail fins firmly with a few single crochets to row 26.

Now crochet 100 stitches using Black yarn. Single crochet one end of the chain and attach the other end to Row 1.

Crochet Pattern: Fish in a Fishbowl

- A piece of wire about 13 cm long
- A piece of duct tape
- Double-sided tape
- Small decorative stones

The fish in the bowl is crocheted using the same pattern as the cat toy.

Fish Bowl Bottom
Crochet with a 3mm Crochet Hook and Phil Coton 4.
Round 1: Crochet with Seigle a magic ring of 6 sc, or do it this way: chain 2, then crochet 6 sc in the first chain. Sl st in the first sc to form a circle of 6 sc (6).
Round 2: Crochet 2 single crochets in each single crochet (12).
Round 3: Crochet 2 single crochets in every 2nd single crochet (18).
Round 4: Chain 1. *Crochet 2 single crochets in the next single crochet, crochet 2 single crochets*. Repeat from *to*, until the end of the round, but end with 1 single crochet (24).
Round 5: Crochet 2 sc in every 4th sc (30).
Round 6: Chain 2. *Crochet 2 single crochets in the next single crochet, then crochet 4 single crochets*. Repeat from *to*, until the end of the round, but end with 2 single crochets (36).
Round 7: Crochet 2 sc in every 6th sc (42).
Row 8: Chain 3. *Crochet 2 single crochets in the next single crochet, then crochet 6 single crochets*. Repeat from *to*, until the end of the row, but finish with 3 single crochets (48).
Round 9: Crochet 2 sc in every 8th sc (54).
Round 10: Chain 4. Crochet 2 single crochets in the next single crochet, then crochet 8 single crochets*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the round, but finish with 4 single crochets (60).
Row 11: Crochet 60 times. Fasten off. Neatly weave in the beginning and ending threads.

Wire
Stitch the wire through the fish between the first scales and fold it in half.
Now attach a new strand of Bambou to the fish's body. Crochet 12v around the double wire. Fasten off. Use the starting strand to secure the crochet work firmly to the fish's body.

Now stitch the end through the center of the bottom. Fold the ends to the side, pressing them against the underside of the bottom, and secure them to the bottom with duct tape.
Now crochet three different types of aquatic plants using Veronese, Bambou, and Seigle.

1: Crochet 12. Crochet 2 single crochets in each of the first 10 chains, then join with a slip stitch in the 11th chainthe l.
2: Crochet 8. Crochet 2 single crochets in the first 6 chains and fasten off with 1 slip stitch in the 7ththe l.
3: Crochet 16. Crochet 2 double crochets in each of the first 14 chains, and finish with a slip stitch in the 15th chain.the l.

Use your fingers to twist the plants into a nice curl, and single crochet them firmly to the base around the wire using the starting and ending strands.
Now secure the base to the bowl with double-sided tape and sprinkle some decorative stones around it.
