In the next stitch, crochet 1 sc, 1 hdc. In the last stitch, crochet 1 half double crochet and 1 single crochet. Fasten off. Neatly weave in the beginning and ending threads. To keep the crown’s contours clearly visible, glue the crowns onto the flags.
Tassels
: Now cut 2 strands of orange yarn.
Fold them in half, thread them through the tips of the flags, and pull the long threads through the loop, then pull tight. Make an orange tassel at each tip this way. Then trim them all to the same length.

Crocheting a Brooch for King's Day
You can also use the flag pattern to make a cute brooch very easily. Just pin it to your jacket with a safety pin, and you're all set for the King's Day celebration.
For the brooch, crochet a little flag following the pattern through row 11. Crochet row 12 as follows: Crochet 2 single crochets in the first and last single crochets (14).
Crochet rows 1 through 4 in Blue, rows 5 through 8 in White, and the remaining rows in Red. Always change to the new color in the last stitch of the previous row.
Tuck away all the loose ends neatly.
Now, in the fifth v (counting from the right) of the twelfth row, attach a new strand of orange yarn. From here, crochet the crown pattern. Neatly weave in all the ends. Attach a safety pin to the back of the flag so you can pin the brooch to your clothing.
