Join the Yarnplaza Advent Calendar!

Advent calendars are always fun—opening a little door every day in December to count down to Christmas. Behind each door, you’ll find a piece of chocolate or a little gift to enjoy. But how cool is it when that little gift is a pattern? Yarnplaza is launching a real Christmas CAL something that makes many a crocheter's heart beat faster. Are you joining the Yarnplaza Advent CAL? Read here to find out exactly how it works.

There are twenty-four days until Christmas Eve, which means we’ll be releasing twenty-four little patterns to fill the days of December. We’re starting with the basics: a tree made from Phildar Partner 6 yarn to hang the decorations on. Starting December 1, a fun Christmas pattern will be posted online every day on the Yarnplaza blog to help you decorate the tree. We can’t wait!

We've started—follow the daily patterns here!

Rows 2 through 20: 22 sc. Fasten off.

Securing it to cardboard
: Secure the Christmas tree to the cardboard with double-sided tape. First, apply the tape to the tree; don't be too sparing with the tape—cover the tree thoroughly with long pieces.

Now glue the tree onto the cardboard, starting at the top and carefully gluing it down as you go. (Help from a second person is recommended.) Press the tree firmly into place. Now cut the cardboard around the tree. Do this with a ruler: place the ruler along the Christmas tree, press the crocheted piece slightly inward, and then cut away the cardboard so that the cardboard remains slightly below your crocheted piece.

Tealight
holders
These are crocheted using a size 4 Crochet Hook. Crochet 8 single crochets into a magic ring.

Round 1: Double all sts. (16 sts.)
Row 2: *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st.* (24 sc)
Round 3: 24 sts in the back loops.
4th round: 24 sts.
5th round: 24 sts.
Round 6: 24 ch.
Fasten off. Crochet 8 containers this way.

Attaching the containers
:
Attach a container to each tip of the Christmas tree by poking two holes in the cardboard (about 2 cm apart). Using a needle, stitch a piece of string through the container from the outside to the inside, and 1 cm further along, stitch the string back out from the inside to the outside. Thread the ends of the string through the holes in the cardboard and tie a small button in the string on the back.
