Easter Bunnies by Essiebirdies
Crochet this adorable pair of bunnies especially for Easter! These cuties will look absolutely adorable on the table during your Easter brunch, but they also make great cuddly toys for your (grand)kids. These bunnies were designed by Esther, better known as Essiebirdies, and are crocheted using Yarn and Colors Must-have. You can choose between a boy’s and a girl’s version, but of course you can also crochet both with our combined Crochet Kit!

Hi, I'm Esther. Most people know me from my Instagram account, Essiebirdies. I also have a Facebook page, but my activity there has decreased.

My passion for crocheting began about ten years ago. Back then, my daughter received a Crochet Kit from a neighbor, and she said, “Mom, can you make that?” And I couldn’t. So I thought to myself: it would be fun to see how it’s done, so I started watching YouTube videos and really got into it, and then I figured it out. I really enjoyed it, so I started making more and more Amigurumi; I got better and better at it, and I kept at it and never stopped.

My style in three words is: cheerful, colorful, and… simple!

I’m most proud of my design for a Frida Kahlo-inspired cushion. It’s a very simple cushion with little flowers, so it looks a bit like Frida Kahlo. I posted that pattern online—in English, too—and lots and lots of people from all over the world have crocheted it. It’s so much fun to see all those photos on Instagram.

I think my family. They're used to seeing all kinds of craft supplies lying around. But they also still really like what I make. So they're definitely my biggest fans.

Luckily, absolutely no one! Maybe me, if it doesn't work out sometimes, but other than that, luckily no one, haha.

I don't have a favorite place to crochet, but I usually sit at the big table in the kitchen. That's mainly because I also design, so I have a notebook and pen right there with me and all my yarns laid out on the table. I almost never just crochet on the couch. Only when I'm working on other people's patterns, but since I design a lot of my own projects, I can't watch TV at the same time, for example.

I have a small room upstairs with shelves full of crates and bags. They’re filled with yarn—mostly cotton. I started out with cotton yarns, and there are so many different colors and brands of them. And, of course, I’ve added a lot of wool to the collection as well.

Yes, I designed a Santa Claus and a Mrs. Claus for Yarnplaza this Christmas. I wanted to create a little Santa in a different way, using natural colors. I used the New yarn from Pink Label, “Mixed Up.” My new design for Yarnplaza is the Easter bunnies—a boy and a girl made with cotton yarn (Yarn and Colors Must-have) in cheerful Easter colors.
