Basic Pattern
: Start of round:
3 chain stitches (1 double crochet), *2 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in the 3rd chain stitch; repeat from *.

Keep repeating the first round.

Back panel
Chain 111, 123, or 135 chain stitches and crochet the basic pattern (= 36, 40, or 44 squares). When you reach a height of 31, 33, or 35 cm, chain 42 chain stitches (= 14 squares) on both sides for the armholes. Here’s how to do it: finish off the work. Crochet 42 chain stitches, then continue crocheting in the basic pattern on the section you’ve already crocheted (the middle section), and at the end, crochet 42 more chain stitches. On the next round, crochet the starting round into the chain stitches and continue crocheting the middle section in the basic pattern as usual. On the other rounds, continue crocheting in the basic pattern.

At heights of 46, 50, and 54 cm, we’ll start tapering the sleeve. To do this, we’ll decrease over 3 stitches as follows: at the beginning of the row, work 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet, 2 chain stitches, 1 single crochet in the next double crochet, 2 chain stitches, 1 half double crochet in the next double crochet, 2 chain stitches, and 1 double crochet in the next double crochet. You will no longer crochet over these 3 stitches in the following rows. Finish the round the same way, but in reverse. Turn the work and crochet a slip stitch across the first 3 stitches. Repeat the decreases 4 more times. Finish the work at a height of 53, 57, or 61 cm.

Front
Crochet the same as the back panel, but when the piece measures 36, 40, or 44 cm, start working the neckline. Mark the center of the row and finish both sides separately. For the neckline, decrease 6x1 stitches on the neckline side in every row. To do this: crochet the 2 double crochets before the marker together. Then turn the work, chain 3, and crochet 1 double crochet into the second-to-last double crochet of the previous row. Once you’ve decreased 6 stitches this way, decrease another 3x1 stitches every 2nd row. Then continue crocheting without decreasing. Finish the work when it measures 53, 57, or 61 cm.

Finishing
Moisten the front and back pieces and stretch them out. Close the seams with slip stitches. Then crochet around the neckline, the bottom of the sleeves, and the bottom of the top with 3 rounds of single crochets. For the first round, crochet 2 single crochets in each space.

Enjoy it!
