You’re seeing them more and more: garments with Aran cables. This traditional motif originated on the Aran Islands, where fishermen’s wives knit sweaters and Cardigans with cables for their rugged sailors. The “fisherman’s cables” on this women’s sweater are particularly striking thanks to the yarn used, Stylecraft Special Aran With Wool. If you have any yarn left over, the pattern explains how to knit a matching cowl. The pattern includes instructions for combination sizes 32/34 through 48/50.
