Fleur Special DK Crochet Kit - Crazy Crochet Catlady

Crochet a unique mosaic blanket with the Fleur Blanket Crochet Kit, designed by Anke Wintermans of Crazy Crochet Catlady. Fleur is crocheted using the overlay mosaic technique. This involves working with single crochets and double crochets, primarily in the back loops. The double crochets are worked into the front loops of the rows below, creating the distinctive mosaic pattern on the surface of the crochet piece.

Since you crochet the blanket starting from the center, you don’t have to cut the yarn after every round. You change colors at single crochet stitches and watch the pattern gradually take shape as you crochet.

The product image shows the Sunset colorway. This is a customizable Crochet Kit, so you can adjust each yarn color individually. Choose Sunset, put together one of the other sample colorways—Forest, Forest Fruit, or Ice Cream—or create your very own color combination.

What colors can you choose for the Fleur blanket?

The pattern includes four sample color schemes crocheted with Stylecraft Special DK. Each color scheme consists of 9 different background colors and 1 contrasting pattern color. You’ll need 1 ball of each background color and 7 balls of the contrasting color.

• Sunset: Cream, Lemon, Citron, Sunshine, Spice, Tomato, Lipstick, Claret, and Burgundy. Contrasting color: Teal.
• Forest: Claret, Copper, Gingerbread, Gold, Mustard, Apple, Kelly Green, Green, and Bottle. Contrasting color: Cream.
• Forest Fruit: Burgundy, Claret, Fuchsia Purple, Plum, Emperor, French Navy, Petrol, Green, and Bottle. Contrasting color: Cream.
• Ice Cream: Candyfloss, Powder Pink, Soft Peach, Apricot, Toy, Lemon, Spring Green, Spearmint, and Duck Egg. Contrasting color: White.

You don’t have to stick to these sample combinations. Since this is a customizable kit, you can adjust each color individually. This way, you can put together one of the four sample versions or create a completely new color combination of your own.

The kit contains 16 balls of Stylecraft Special DK: 9 balls in various background colors and 7 balls in the chosen contrasting color. You’ll also receive the complete digital Crochet Pattern.

What crochet technique do you use for the Fleur blanket?

The Fleur blanket is crocheted using the overlay mosaic technique. You’ll mainly use single crochet and double crochet stitches. The single crochets are primarily worked into the back loops. To create the mosaic pattern, you’ll crochet double crochets into the front loops of the rows below. These stitches will lie on top of the work and together form the pattern.

The blanket is crocheted starting from the center. This way, you don’t have to cut the yarn after every row, and color changes occur only at single crochets.
