Floral was her first CAL and is a beautiful blanket featuring floral motifs, crocheted using the overlay mosaic technique. The CAL has now ended, so you can get started right away with the complete digital Crochet Pattern.

The Floral blanket consists of 12 crocheted blocks. The design includes 6 different patterns and 4 border patterns that you combine to create one large blanket. The square blocks can be crocheted from the center out or in rows from the bottom up. With this kit, you’ll have the yarn for the center-out version right at your fingertips.

The product image shows the Hydrangea color scheme. This is a customizable Crochet Kit: you can adjust all the yarn colors yourself. Choose Hydrangea, put together one of the other sample color schemes—Astrantia, Primula, or Camellia—or create your own favorite color combination.

What colors can you choose for the Floral blanket?

Designer Anke Wintermans has put together four sample color schemes. Each color scheme consists of 17 balls of Stylecraft Special DK: 2 balls of each of the 5 colors and 7 balls of the contrasting color Cream 1005.

• Hydrangea (blue/green): Spearmint 1842, Lincoln 1834, Sage 1725, Duck Egg 1820, Storm Blue 1722, and Cream 1005
• Astrantia (pastel shades): Lincoln 1834, Pale Rose 1080, Vintage Peach 1836, Toy 1844, Buttermilk 1835, and Cream 1005
• Primula (Blue/Yellow/Brown): Empire 1829, Emperor 1425, Dandelion 1856, Spearmint 1842, Teal 1062, and Cream 1005
• Camellia (red/orange/yellow): Shrimp 1132, Bright Pink 1435, Apricot 1026, Clementine 1711, Citron 1263, and Cream 1005

You don’t have to stick to these sample combinations. Since this is a customizable kit, you can adjust each yarn color individually to create your own Floral blanket.

The Floral blanket measures approximately 125 x 170 cm. The sample consists of 12 blocks: 3 blocks across and 4 blocks tall. The final size may vary depending on your crocheting style and stitch ratio.

What crochet technique do you use for the Floral blanket?

The Floral blanket is crocheted using the overlay mosaic technique. The 6 different square motifs are symmetrical and can be crocheted from the center or in rows from bottom to top.

The yarn kit is designed for crocheting from the center. Would you prefer to crochet the blocks in rows? If so, keep in mind that you’ll need more yarn for the double borders used to weave in the loose ends.

Tip: Before you start the blanket, make a gauge swatch. The yarn requirement is based on a gauge of approximately 20 stitches and 20 rows per 10 cm. If you crochet more loosely, your yarn requirement may be higher.
