Crochet Pattern: Flower Field Blanket – Lotte’s final entry for the 2021 Haakster competition can certainly be called a mosaic masterpiece. Thanks to the use of the double-sided mosaic crochet technique, the back of this blanket is just as beautiful as the front. Also good to know: the many chain stitches are tucked away in the border at the end. Lotte drew inspiration for the design of this blanket from Nijhoff’s “De Wolken” (The Clouds). In this poem, a parent and child lie in a heathland watching the clouds. The bottom four green bands with a “prickly” pattern represent the grass. The next four pink bands feature a floral motif. Finally, Lotte crocheted blue bands that symbolize the sky. A wonderfully colorful, warm blanket that you can also crochet in your own unique color combination if you’d like.
