The sample cardigan shown in the pictures is in grey, cream, and green, but with this customizable Knitting Kit, you get to choose all the colors yourself. You can follow the combination shown, change one or two colors, or put together a completely original color palette. That way, you can use the same pattern to create a cardigan that perfectly matches your wardrobe.

For the Basic Cardigan, you’ll combine ribbing, seed stitch, and stockinette stitch. The different stitches create subtle textural variations between the blocks of color. The entire cardigan is knitted with double yarn, which gives the fabric a nice, full body and allows the project to grow quickly with the thick needles.

Knit the separate front panels and sleeves, then join them together. Finally, knit a 5-cm ribbing along the front panels and neckline. This gives the cardigan a neat finish.

Choose the colors for your cardigan yourself

The colors in the example are meant to serve as inspiration. Within the kit, you can choose any available color for each color position. Be sure to use the specified amount of yarn for each color position.

One of the original colors in the pattern has been out of stock for some time. That’s why Stylecraft Special Chunky 1005 Cream is selected by default for this color position. If you’d prefer to use Yarn and Colors, you can choose an available color from the Yarn and Colors Chunky Amazing line for this position, just as you can for the other colors.

Size and Fit

This kit is designed for size S/M. The basic pattern also includes sizes S/M and L/XL. For size L/XL, the pattern uses larger measurements, so you'll need more yarn than is included in this standard kit.

Gauge swatch

To ensure a good fit, it's important to knit a gauge swatch first. The gauge for this pattern is 8.5 stitches x 12 rows = 10 x 10 cm. Check your gauge before you start the cardigan so that the final measurements match the pattern as closely as possible.
