Crochet poncho for kids - A lovely crochet poncho for a mighty girl! This poncho can be worn over a jacket or shirt and is wonderful for the colder days. This way,  not only will your kids be kept warm during winter, but they'll also steal the show with their colorful get-up.

This cheerful poncho is crocheted with Lana Grossa Bingo. Bingo is a soft yarn made from 100% merino wool and is available in many different colors. We've combined plain- and neon-colored yarn from this brand; a fresh combination of cheerful yarn. Of course you can choose your own favorite colors instead and create the prettiest poncho for your girl!


What do you need?

Material:
- 4 balls Lana Grossa Bingo color 90
- 1 ball Lana Grossa Bingo color 159
- 1 ball Lana Grossa Bingo Neon color 701 and 709
- 1 ball Katia Merino baby color 60
- Crochet hook size 6 and 7 mm

Stitches used:
ch.     = chain stitch
sl. st. = slip stitch
sc.     = single crochet
hdc.  = half double crochet
dc.    = double crochet

The poncho is for a child aged 5-7 years or size 116.

Size: the length of the sleeves is 36 cm, distance from tip to neckline is 50 cm.

Do you want to make a different size? This is done quite easily by making the neck opening narrower or wider. Make sure your foundation chain is a multiple of 8 sts.

Crochet Pattern | Crochet Poncho for Kids:

Ch 56 (color 90) with crochet hook 7 mm and close into a ring with a sl. st. Change to crochet hook 6 mm.

Round 1: Ch 3 (= first dc), dc 2, ch 1, skip 1 st, *dc 3, ch 1, skip 1 st*. Repeat * to * until the end. Close the round with a sl. st. (14 groups of 3 dc’s).

Round 2: Sl.st. to the first ch. space and dc 3, ch 1, dc 3, ch 1 (mid rear/front). In the next 6 ch spaces work dc 3, ch 1. In the next ch. space, dc 3, ch 1, dc 3, ch 1 (mid rear/front). In the last 6 ch spaces, work dc 3, ch 1. Close the round with a sl. st.

Rounds 3-18: Repeat round 2. In each centre ch. space, work dc 3, ch 1, dc 3, ch 1. In the other ch. spaces, work dc 3, ch 1. End the round with a sl. st. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop. Change colour (709).

Round 19: Starting in a centre ch. sp, work hdc 3 (ch 2 and hdc 2), ch 1, hdc 3. *hdc 1 in each st.* In the next centre ch. sp, work hdc 3, ch 1, hdc 3. Repeat * to * to end. End the round with a sl st. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop. Change colour (159).

Round 20: Starting in a centre ch. sp, work a dc 3 cluster, ch 1, dc 3 cluster. *ch 3, skip 2sts, dc 3 cluster in next st.* Repeat ** to end. In the centre ch sp, work a dc 3 cluster, ch 1, dc 3 cluster. Repeat * to * to end. End the round with a sl. st. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop. Change colour (701).

Round 21: Attach the yarn in a centre ch sp, and work ch 3 (first dc), ch 3, dc. *ch 3, dc in the ch 3 sp.* In the center ch sp, work dc 1, ch 3, dc 1. Repeat * to * to end. End with ch 3. End the round with a sl st. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop. Change colour (90).

Round 22: Repeat round 2. Attach the yarn in a centre ch sp. Of course, you have more than 6 ch sps, but repeat as required. Change colour (159).

Round 23: Attach the yarn in a centre ch sp, and work hdc 3 (ch 2 and hdc 2), ch 1, hdc 3. *hdc in each st.* In the next centre ch sp, work hdc 3, ch 1, hdc 3. Repeat * to * to end. End the round with a sl. st. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop. Change colour (709).

Round 24: Working in the front loop only, sl .st in each st. In the centre ch sps, work sc 3. End the round with a sl st. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop. Change colour (701).

Round 25: Atach the yarn in a centre ch sp, and work sc 3 (ch 1 and sc 2), ch 1, sc 3.

*Working in the back loop only, sc 1 in each st.* In the next centre ch sp, work sc 3, ch 1, sc 3. Repeat * to * to end. End the round with a sl st. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop. Change colour (90).

Round 26: Attach the yarn in a centre ch sp, and work dc 3, ch 1, dc 3. *Skip 3 sts, dc in the next st, ch 3, dc 1.* Repeat ** to centre ch sp. In the center ch sp, work dc 3, ch 1, dc 3. Repeat * to * to end. End the round with a sl st. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop. Change colour (709).

Round 27: Attach the yarn in a centre ch sp, and work dc 2, ch 1, dc 2. Skip 1 st, dc 1 in the next 3 sts, *dc 2 in the ch 3 sp, dc in the next st.* Repeat ** to the centre ch sp, working dc 1 in the last 2 sts. In the centre ch sp, work dc 2, ch 1, dc 2. Dc 1 in the next 3 sts. Repeat * to * to end. End with dc 2. End the round with a sl st. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop. Change colour (90).

Round 28: Attach the yarn in the first dc of a centre group and ch 2 (= sc 1), ch 4, skip 3 sts, sc 1, *ch 4, skip 3 sts, sc 1.* Repeat * to * to centre ch sp. After the last sc before the centre ch sp, ch 3 and sc in the first dc of the centre group, ch 4, skip 3 sts, sc 1, ch 3, skip 2 sts, sc 1. Repeat * to * to end. End with ch 4. End the round with a sl st. Cut the yarn and pull through the loop.

Finishing: ?Work a sl st row in colour 709 along the neckline.

Ch 100 for a pull cord (colour 90) and weave through the first round. Attach two pompoms in colour 159 to the ends of the pull cord.

Fringes:? From Merino Baby 32, cut 32 threads of 3.5 m long. Wrap around a piece of cardboard (8 cm wide), cut the yarn and make fringes. Attach the fringes in every second ch 4 sp.
